About us
We are a teacher training partner based in Sheffield providing training for anyone wanting to teach in early years, primary, secondary or special schools.
Whether you want to teach in primary, secondary, early years, or specialist schools, our school-based ITT programmes offer the perfect route. Designed for recent graduates and career changers, you’ll learn ‘on the job’ through school placements, excellent training, and dedicated support.
We are an associate college of The National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), and we work with over 100 partner schools across Sheffield and wider the region. We believe that collaboration is the key to our success. Through these partnerships, we combine the expertise and experience of colleagues and schools to equip you with the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to progress and thrive as a teacher.
The NIoT teacher training programme is a fully immersive, school-based experience, so you’ll be in the classroom from day one. We are here to support and our trainees receive weekly central training and one-to-one mentoring to support their development. You can also be confident that you’re learning on a programme designed by some of the country’s most experienced teachers and leaders.
At the heart of the Sheffield Teacher Training Alliance sits Silverdale School and we are also part of the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub.

Many of our trainees get their first teaching post before they have even finished our course - with the vast majority gaining jobs within six months of completing it.
