Based in Sheffield and working in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching, we provide initial teacher training programmes  for those wanting to teach in early years, primary, secondary or special schools.

Our programmes are ideal for recent graduates, career changers and school support staff who want to begin a career in teaching. We delivers both the Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and the Post Graduate Apprenticeship (PGTA) routes into teaching. These programmes combine practical, hands-on experience with research-based training, and exceptional support equipping our trainees with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive as teachers. We are committed to developing the highest quality teachers across the region. 

Our teacher training programme is a fully immersive, school-based experience, so you’ll be in the classroom from day one. But full immersion does not mean that you will be thrown in the deep end: our trainees are mentored and have central training once a week. And you’ll have the confidence of knowing that you are participating in a programme that was designed by some of the most experienced teachers and leaders in the country, drawn from four leading school trusts with decades of teacher-training between them.

At the heart of the Sheffield Teacher Training Alliance sits Silverdale School and we are also part of the South Yorkshire Teaching Hub.

We are keen to learn from other trusts and schools and are committed to providing the very best education possible for our young people, by empowering colleagues to be the very best teachers, leaders and professionals in the country.

Many of our trainees get their first teaching post before they have even finished our course - with the vast majority gaining jobs within six months of completing it.
