Trainees come together for regional training day in Sheffield
Our teacher trainees recently came together in Sheffield for a full day of regional, in-person training, providing an opportunity to learn, share ideas and develop their skills alongside fellow trainees.
A key highlight of the day was a session on Unconditional Positive Regard, delivered by David Whitaker, author and CEO of Wellspring Academy Trust.
The session looked at the importance of building positive and supportive relationships with pupils and how these relationships can have a real impact on behaviour, learning and the classroom environment. Trainees also learnt practical approaches they can use to create inclusive, supportive classrooms and build positive relationships with their pupils.
The session was well received, with trainees commenting on how inspiring, useful and relevant they found the content.
The training day also included sessions focusing on safeguarding, building confidence in the classroom, and practical ways to inspire and communicate effectively with pupils. These sessions gave trainees the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills while learning from experienced education professionals.
Regional training days are an important part of our teacher training programme, bringing trainees together to learn from one another and benefit from the experience and expertise of education professionals.
A big thank you to David Whitaker, Katie Anderson and Emma Jane Cooper for delivering engaging and informative sessions and sharing their knowledge and experience with our trainees.
