South Yorkshire Teaching Hub and Sheffield Teacher Training Alliance welcomes NIoT as a partner

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with The National Institute of Teaching (NIoT).

This collaboration will give schools across Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster access to NIoT’s full range of teacher education and professional development programmes.

STTA is the ITE arm of South Yorkshire Teaching Hub and we are proud to be delivering the NIot programme from September 2026.

The South Yorkshire Teaching Hub's commitment to inclusive, locally responsive provision makes NoIT an ideal partner whose mission is to improve outcomes for children by investing in teaching and leadership development, especially in areas where it is needed most.

We enable people to make the first steps into teaching within the region and being under the umbrella of SYTH, allows trainees to continue their teaching career with the same support systems and network.

Melanie Renowden, NIoT Chief Executive Officer, said:
“For years South Yorkshire Teaching Hub has been part of the fabric of communities across the region, including many which continue to experience deprivation. This partnership means greater numbers of schools and teacher trainees will benefit from the NIoT's evidence-informed approach to teacher education and development, unlocking choice and opportunity for future generations of children."

Chris James, CEO of Chorus Education Trust, added:
“We are delighted to become an Associate College of the National Institute of Teaching. At South Yorkshire Teaching Hub, we have a track record of successfully recruiting, developing and retaining great teachers across South Yorkshire. This partnership reflects our unwavering commitment to high-quality, evidence-informed teacher development.

“By working with NIoT we will have access to the very best training and support for our current and future teachers. We are looking forward to a successful collaboration in the next phase of the development of South Yorkshire Teaching Hub."

The partnership will begin with Initial Teacher Training (ITT) recruitment in October 2025, with delivery set to start in Summer 2026. Our commitment and expertise, combined with NIoT’s national infrastructure and research-led curriculum, will ensure that teachers and leaders across South Yorkshire have access to the support they need to thrive.
